![]() I’ll be brief, since my goal is to review how fun a ride is, not how sick I am of waiting in line. My real issue with the VR addition is how it affects the rest of the ride experience. The back of my head is totally in that video.ĭespite the potential mild nausea and the fact that the headset is kind of painful, the VR is interesting enough, and the risk small enough for the average rider, that I would recommend at least trying it once. Side note, doing commercials for Six Flags means you can do this: I did find the experience somewhat uncomfortable, though in fairness I rode it half a dozen times in a row for a commercial. Despite assurances that the virtual view would be perfectly synced to the coaster in order to avoid motion sickness, this is not necessarily the case. That’s about where the positive aspects end. Kind of cute too, in a weird virtual way. Of course, Superman wins, because he’s Superman. My favorite part is the brake run in the middle, where Superman has seemingly deposited you safely out of the way, only for Luther to grab you and yank you back into things. Superman comes to save you, in a process that involves a lot of spinning and flipping because that’s how the coaster goes, and a lot of chaos and explosions go on as well. You’re on a sort of sky-subway over Metropolis, the rails of which are promptly destroyed by Lex Luther. The story that plays out is simple, but cool. And it’s super attractive, so really it’s a win-win This ride is not replacing Superman, and it is not a separate thing (some people thought you could just sit somewhere stationary and watch as if you’re riding the actual coaster.) Riders can opt-in to wearing the headset (meaning you can still ride the traditional coaster, now with the added bonus of laughing at silly looking people in goggles all around you.) If you choose the headset, you will be presented with a virtual view of Metropolis, which will move in sync with the coaster’s movements. A number of people are confused about what exactly a VR coaster is. I’ll start by talking about the VR itself. More unfortunately, I have since had a number of successful rides using the virtual reality. Unfortunately, I could not get the system to work properly at that time. It would be themed after the Man of Steel.I wrote previously about my experience with the new virtual reality on the Superman: Krypton Coaster. ![]()
